Green woodpeckers are often heard in and around the gills on the edge of the moor here in Rosedale. Their loud yaffling call sounds like they are laughing at us. Rarely do we get to study them as they invariably see us before we spot them and then they are off with a strong undulating flight. A treat to get this juvenile with both adults.
