“Welcome to Rosedale Abbey Community Primary School. Our School lies in the centre of Rosedale Abbey village and is at the heart of the local community. As a school we are proud to be educationally, emotionally and economically attached to our local community, but our sights are always set on wider horizons!
Our immediate environment is one of our most precious resources. We take every opportunity to get ‘out and about’ in the village, in our school garden, along the footpaths, in the fields and on the Moors.
Three of our staff have recently been accredited by NYCC to start up a ‘Forest School’ and we are already reaping the benefits, having been on several visits to the local woods, identifying trees and fruits, building shelters and learning knots!
We also enjoy a variety of visits further afield e.g. days fossil hunting and rock pooling on the coast, residential adventure activity visits to Cumbria, felt-making experiences at Fountains Abbey and drama, dance and choir activities in neighbouring schools.
The school is a hub for many village activities and both the staff and children take a great pride in ‘being involved’ with a variety of community events and in the annual Rosedale Show.
We have been working in a successful Collaboration with Nawton CP School since January 2011 and the two schools will formally Federate in April 2013.”
OfSTED September 2010:
“This is a good school … The outstanding care, guidance and support have been the bedrock of the school’s successes”.
