The Church Fete held this Sunday to raise funds for the church roof appeal was blessed with dry weather which helped produce an unexpectedly high attendance from visitors and locals alike, which in turn produced over £900 for the appeal. Afternote: follow-on sales and contributions have now raised the figure to over £1000 – a splendid effort all round.
There were plant and handicraft stalls, sales of old books, a treasure trail for the children and the ever popular tombola and tea and cake stalls in the church. The crowds were entertained with some wonderful singing by a local choir, the Moorland Singers, all of which made for a traditional village fete.
Heartfelt thanks to all who helped organise the event and ran the various stalls, those who contributed tombola prizes and items for sale and to the choir for their contribution to a very pleasant and successful afternoon.
