A short TV programme on Jon Zigmonds recent race is being broadcast on channel 4 this coming Sunday (12 August) at 6.35am. Set your videos !!
Jon completed his eighth ironman distance triathlon – 3,800 m open water swim + 180 km bike + 42.2 km run – last month.
Although his time was a little slow (13 hours 55 minutes) by his usual standards, Jon is as proud of this one as any of his ironman triathlon results because he completed this race after ten weeks of virtually no training due to a virus.
His previous good results in 2011 meant Jon awarded was a place on the official Great Britain triathlon team in his age group to take part in the Long Course Triathlon World Championships in Spain, frustratingly, due to illness Jon declined his place. We hope to see more of Jon cycling and running in the coming weeks.
PS: if anyone is inspired to take up triathlon following GB’s (and Yorkshire’s) two Olympic medals, Jon points out he is pleased to offer advice !
