British Heart Foundation Coffee Morning – 2 June 2018
The coffee morning in aid of the BHF raised over £330, so many thanks to all who donated/bought raffle prizes, coffee monies and cakes and to The Coach House team for the support as always.
The next coffee morning will be on Saturday 7 July from 10.00 to 12.00 am and will be in aid of the Save Rosedale Abbey Church appeal. We have to raise over £80,000 to save the church for all who live in the dale, so please come along and support this very important local cause.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance Fund Raiser – 9 March 2018
A fundraising event for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was held in the Updale Reading Room on Friday evening, 9 March 2018. The event started off with an introduction by Kevin Hutchinson from the YAA, who explained the role, operating methods and the funding of the service, summarising it by saying that Yorkshire had five million people, four million acres, three thousand pounds per call-out for each the services’s two helicopters, so if everyone in the county gave just one pound per year the YAA would be fully funded!

After that, the Updale Nature Recorder gave a fascinating slide show tour of the flora and fauna of the dale, from sneezeworts to snakes to snow buntings and much else in between.

Finally, the evening ended with the ever popular raffle and guess-the helicopter-landing site game and tea with Maggie Barraclough’s outstanding cream scones all of which, along with ticket money and YAA merchandise sales raised the magnificent sum of £732 on the night.
Heartfelt thanks to all who helped set up the event, to all who came and donated prizes for the raffle and who gave so generously for the tea and scones.
