The first of our now quarterly Tea, Chat & History meetings takes place in early March. Please make a note of the dates for 2022: 6 March, 5 June, 4 September and 4 December.
These informal meetings are between 2.00 – 4.00pm. on Sunday afternoons at the Updale Reading Room, Rosedale. The archive will be available to browse and research, and we look forward to welcoming our regulars as well as new visitors.
Any regulations due to the ongoing Covid situation will, of course, be observed. Please contact email@example.com for further information.
Father Christmas is, of course, used to cold weather where he lives at the North Pole, but Rosedale did its best to make him feel at home on a breezy, sleety night with lots of young boys and girls giving him a warm welcome!
Thanks again to Father Christmas and to his elves from the Ryedale Lions for coming to Rosedale and for giving such a great start to the festive season.
This coming weekend we will be having a coffee morning in the Coach House on Saturday, 4 December, 10.00-12.00. There will be the usual raffle and cake sales, and donations for either or both will be gratefully accepted.
On the following day, Sunday 5th, between 2.00-4.00pm., we will be having our first Tea and Chat meeting back in the Updale Reading Room in almost two years. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces and also welcome new ones to our very informal get-togethers. Could those who would like to come along please bring a mask and respect social distancing. Refreshments will be available.
Please note, future meetings are going to be quarterly, not monthly. Our meetings for 2022 will be held on the first Sunday in March, June, September and December.
In defiance of Storm ARWEN the Christmas auction went ahead in The Coach House Inn on Saturday and even with a reduced attendance over previous years and thanks to the generosity of those who donated items for the auction and those who bid for them, over £2000 was raised for the Reading Room fund.
Thanks also to Sue Foster and Lorraine Dale for organising the event and, as always, to Dave Oakey and the team at the Coach House for hosting it so efficiently.
Father Christmas and his elves are all double/booster jabbed, are now out of quarantine and planning to visit Rosedale Abbey around 4.30pm on Wednesday 1 December!
Please come along and welcome Santa and support the worthy causes sponsored by the Ryedale Lions Club.
The Moorland Voices choir, directed by Clare Haynes, gave an excellent concert in St Mary and St Lawrence Church in Rosedale Abbey on Friday night. An appreciative audience was entertained with a wide programme of folk, gospel and jazz numbers, both choral and instrumental, which raised £700 pounds for the church appeal fund from ticket sales, donations and the auction of a watercolour picture of Rosedale.
Our thanks go again to Clare Haynes and the choir and to the volunteers who set up the event and provided the delicious snacks and wines which contributed to a most enjoyable evening.
A chance to win a striking original artwork of Rosedale!
This lovely painting, by professional artist Jo Wiley of Whitby, is offered for auction to raise money for the Save Rosedale Church Appeal.
If you would like to make an offer by sealed bid, please drop your bid price, your name and email/phone number off at The Oaks or Phoenix House, both on Gill Lane or at Thorgill House. The painting has a reserve of £140.00.
The result of the auction will be made at the Moorland Voices choral concert in the church this Friday, 29th October. If you are at the concert, sealed bids can be taken on the night.
Our much loved coffee mornings are starting again at last on Saturday 2 October in the Coach House Inn, Rosedale Abbey, from 10.00 until 12.00 and in aid of Community Village in Bloom.
The usual cake sale and ever popular raffle will also take place and the the new Rosedale Calendar for 2022 will be available at £10 per copy in aid of the Rosedale church appeal.
Hoping to see you all there on Saturday at 10.00am
