The Dale-Sanderson Wedding – 8 July 2107

Lyndsey Dale and Matthew Sanderson were married on a gloriously sunny Saturday 8 July in St Mary and St Laurence Church with Father Bill Godfrey officiating. The event had a farming theme with the groom’s party arriving in tractors and the groom, ushers and pages dressed very smartly in tweed and denim!

Generous Rosedale

Two charity events were held at the Coach House Inn this Saturday 3 November 2016. The first was a coffee morning held in aid of the Christmas Lights fund which raised an excellent £250 from donations, direct and for the ever popular raffle.

For the first time in many years the annual Christmas Auction in aid of the Reading Room was held at the Coach House. The inn was packed out for the night and and a boisterous audience bidded enthusiastically for the many items for sale.

And now a message from Lorraine Dale, Chair of the Reading Room Trustees:

The Reading Room Christmas Auction held at the Coach House raised an amazing £1200 – thank you to all who supported this event in any way, you have been so generous.

Special thanks must go to Dave and his staff at the Coach House for their support and use of the premises, and to Dave Seller our famous auctioneer who never disappoints, and my fellow trustees for their help with the event.

In spite of a couple of sharp showers in mid-afternoon, the Rosedale Show 2016 passed off well. Numbers were thought to be down on last year. mainly because of the adverse weather forecasts, but those who did come to show enjoyed the day. Some photos:

Barn Fire In Rosedale

Shortly after 1.00pm on Monday 18 July, at Newlands Farm, Rosedale, a fire, thought to have started in a parked tractor, spread into a nearby barn. Fire appliances attended from Danby, Pickering, Malton and Kirkbymoorside.

Newlands Farm is the home of the Wilson family. Les and Monica and their son Kevin were home at the time and although they were clearly shocked by the incident, mercifully there were no injuries.

First Frost On Chimney Bank

… and the first major incident of the winter when the Arla milk tanker skidded on ice and failed to make the first hairpin bend at the bottom of Chimney Bank. Fortunately the tanker was empty otherwise it could have ended up in one of the pony paddocks on Daleside Road.

It is said the the driver handed in his notice immediately afterwards!

 

Afternote: the tanker driver is called Mac Wheeldon and recently e-mailed to say “I will be taking my wife out to see the spot I almost lost my life! Also to see the stunning area you live.” Look forward to seeing you here, Mac.

Sam Dring and John Dent would like to thank all those volunteers who turned out yesterday evening on the Milburn Field for their excellent work in setting up the arenas for the show on Saturday.

Rosedale show 2015 – Help Wanted!

This is a call for volunteers to help the Show Committee set up the Milburn Field on Tuesday 11 August at 6.00pm in preparation for the Show on Saturday the 15th.

No booking necessary – just turn up on Tuesday evening with any tools, sledge hammers etc that may be appropriate, so that we can continue the successful run of Yorkshire’s Best Little Show.
