Work on the repairing the track way is well on course. The new project manager, Tom Mutton, is now in post and is about to recruit the two final members of the five strong project team, which should be fully established early in the new year.
Work on restoring the trackway near the Stone Kilns at East Mines is progressing well. The slope has been graded and the gabions are being installed.
There is a signposted and waymarked diversion around the working for walkers – please comply!
The first phase of the This Exploited Land project has now started, after a delay due to more design work being required after the initial excavations on site. However, Hall Construction are now back working to restore the pathway by the Stone Kilns on East Mines .
Once all the old earth is removed, stone filled gabions will be placed and the track way rebuilt on top. More updates to come.
After thirteen years in charge, Howard and Daphne Hebron are saying farewell to the Coach House Inn and downsizing their responsibilities by retiring to their charming cottage in Wrelton.
However, the village will still see a lot of them no doubt as Howard plans to help his son Ben with his ATV business in the yard behind the inn and Daphne promises to spend a lot more time with their grand-children!
All in Rosedale and Hartoft wish Howard and Daphne the very best of good fortune.
After stocktaking on Thursday the Inn reopens under new management on Friday when Dave Oakey would like welcome all Coach House regulars and new visitors.
The Queen’s 90th birthday was celebrated in Rosedale by over 250 adults and children, who enjoyed traditional games on the Milburn Field, followed by a tea party on the village green.
Heartfelt thanks to all who helped set up and run this marvellous occasion, especially Nicola and her committee of helpers and also to all who contributed such delicious sandwiches, rolls, buns and cakes for the tea party.
The cake and tombola stand in aid of the Church Roof Appeal did good business after a slow start because of the unseasonably cold weather this Bank Holiday Monday.
Thanks to Anthea Read for organising the event and to Margaret and Carol for running the tombola raffle. Thanks also to all who helped out and also those who contributed cakes and other items, the sale of which raised a total of £169 for the Church Roof Appeal.
We have just received the brilliant news that the Heritage Lottery Fund has granted £2.5 million towards the This Exploited Land (TEL) project to conserve, protect and interpret our unique industrial heritage.
The full NYMNP press release is at this link: http://www.northyorkmoors.org.uk/about-us/press-office/press-releases/articles2/trailblazing-funding-for-the-north-york-moors
The Rosedale History Society has played a full role along with the other partners in the project to bring about this excellent result. There will, of course, be regular updates on the TEL project progress from now on, here and at the RHS regular Sunday meetings on the first Sunday of each month.
Well done all!
