The annual wool gather took place on Thursday morning with farmers from around Rosedale and Hartoft bringing in their wool sacks for collection by British Wool.
The Wine and Cheese Night, also with a quiz and raffle, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in Abbey Stores on Friday evening was packed out. With a wide variety of delicious cheeses and copious glasses of wine to encourage them, those attending raised the marvellous sum of £660 for a very worthy cause
Hearty thanks to Nicola who organised the evening and to Craig and Helen for their stalwart support.
A reminder that the next Coffee Morning in the Coach House is on Saturday 2 November and will include the annual WI Craft Fair, so call in and take the excellent opportunity to start your Christmas shopping!
The coffee morning this Saturday is in support of the Rosedale Community Fund. Since the coffee mornings for the community fund began in 2016 it has over the years supported the following for Rosedale.
Please support the coffee morning. Who knows what will be next in the community.
Also the Domino Drives begin again on the third Thursday of each month for Reading Room funds. First one Thursday 17th October 7.30
Frank and Barbara ran the Coach House Inn in the early 2000s. Barbara died recently and her family would like it known that her funeral will be at York Crematorium on 9 October at 2pm. Any one who remembers them would be most welcome to attend.
The Rosedale Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Show was held on the Milburn Field in Rosedale Abbey on Saturday 17 August. The show was blessed with excellent weather and dry ground this year which made for a grand day out for the large number of visitors ( currently thought to be around 4000) who enjoyed the many attractions on offer in the new show rings layout and exhibition areas, along with a wide variety of trades stands. As always, the show would never happen without the stirling efforts of the all-volunteer committee and the many other helpers giving up their time to run the entrance gates, control the traffic and parking and act as stewards at all the classes and events within the very full show programme.
Planning for the 2025 show is already under way to build on the resounding success of the 2024 show and should anyone wish to help out next year please keep an eye out on social media and on www.rosedaleshow.com, or contact the Secretary on rosedaleshowsecretary@gmail.com

Steve Brace and Linda Blackburne, of the Oaks, Rosedale Abbey, were married in St Mary and St Lawrence Church, Rosedale Abbey, on Saturday 3 August. The ceremony was presided over by the Reverend Christine Haddon-Reece and the music was provided by members of the Moorland Voices choir and Chris Dyson of Gaelforce.
The reception was held in the paddock of the Oaks, in Rosedale Abbey.
Hearty best wishes and congratulations from all in the dale to Steve and Linda
The coffee morning in the Coach House Inn on Saturday morning from 10.00 to 12.00 will be in aid of Cancer Research.

Coincidently, around 80 people from the village and dale gathered in the Coach House In on Friday 19 January 2024 to celebrate Ian ‘Brownie’ Brown’s 80th birthday. It was a well kept surprise and Brownie took a few minutes to recover after his arrival!
Thanks to Dave Oakey and his team in the Coach House Inn for their splendid hosting of the event and to Jan Baker for her coordination of all the details.
Our local curate, David Haddon-Reece, was ordained by Paul, Bishop of Whitby, at St Mary’s Church, Lastingham on Sunday 7 December at 3.00pm. The church was packed as the congregation drawn from all five churches in the benefice witnessed the joyous culmination of a long spiritual journey for David.
All in the benefice and particularly those in Rosedale wish David all the very best for his ministry with us.
