Still in the Grip of Winter

Amazing icicles at the entrance to this tunnel up on the moor.  Although still in the grip of winter the lapwings have been back since mid February, first curlew seen on 1 March and golden plovers on 5 March.  Migrants will be arriving in next week or so.
Thanks again to Rosedales’  roving nature blogger for this post. Keep them coming !

One week on, when we have all power and telephones reinstated and the landscape is glowing with springs greens, its now hard to image the amount of snow that fell in that long and windy night last Tuesday 4th April.

Images from our Care Taker , Mr Dent on his rounds the morning after last weeks storms, which speak many thousand words. Thanks John.
