Rosedale – Open For Business

All will be aware by now of the Government COVID-19 diktat that all pubs, cafes restaurants are to close until further notice. However, our local businesses are going to carry on as take-out/take-away outlets and basic shops for as long as possible. It goes without saying that we need to support our local outlets as much as possible through these very difficult times so that they and we can survive!

Graze On The Green Details of opening times, revised menus and sale items have been posted on their website www.grazeonthegreen.co.uk and on Facebook. Please note that GoG will now open in Mondays from 11.00am to 1.00pm for shop items only. Afternote: Darren and James have now decided to close the shop until further notice, but will still take orders for a range of foods and cakes to order only – again check their website for the revised arrangements.

Abbey Stores The tea room has been shut but the shop will remain open for the usual basics including bread, milk, vegetables, newspapers etc. Also , they intend serve take-out meals and drinks for consumption on the green or to take home. Supermobile Library Visits – August to December 2018

The excellent Supermobile Library will be visiting Rosedale 0n (all days Mondays from 5.00pm to 7.00pm) 13 August , 10 and 24 September , 8 and 22 October, 5 and 19 November  and 3 and 17 December .

Not only is there a wide selection of books, fiction, factual and reference but also good wi-fi reception and we all know how important that is here!

 

If you haven’t tried it before, look in this coming 13 August evening and see for yourselves what a good facility this is. Remember too, that if we don’t use it we’ll lose it.

Land of Iron Public Consultation – 12 December 2017

A public consultation on the proposed conservation measures on Rosedale’s ironstone roasting kilns was held last night, 12 December, in the Coach House Inn. The session was very well attended by 28 local people and there was lively discussion on several topics after stimulating presentations by representatives from the project office and the archaeological and engineering agencies involved with the proposed works.

Tom Mutton, the TELI project manager outlines progress on the project.

A Star In Rosedale

Tony Robinson, of Blackadder and Time Team fame, and a film crew were in Rosedale on Monday 5 September, shooting for a series on walks across the UK to be shown later this year on Channel 5. Linda Chambers from the Rosedale History Society was asked to advise Tony of the history of ironstone mining in the dale.

Countryfile Broadband

A BBC Countryfile team was in Rosedale yesterday interviewing an expert on the lack of proper broadband provision in rural areas.
