A big thank you to all who supported and took part in the Rosedale Wedding Dress Festival. We raised £3,851 (and moved the Angel up a notch). That takes our total fund-raising to a grand £26,487. Our target is £90,000.
We can now show we mean business in grant applications to save Rosedale Church from closure.
Congratulations to the five raffle winners! And thank you to the local businesses who provided the prizes and supported the event.
Any ideas for the next fundraising event will be warmly welcomed. Until then, thank you again – your donations and positive feedback have been very much appreciated.
Best wishes

The preview evening for the Wedding Dress Festival in aid of the appeal for St Mary and St Lawrence Church in Rosedale Abbey was very well attended and over £655 was raised for the appeal fund.

The festival, with its wonderful display of over thirty wedding dresses, stories, memorabilia and sales of local arts and crafts runs through to Sunday 2 June when there will be a Renewal of Wedding Vows Service in the Church at 10.30. Entry is free from 10.00am each day – donations to the appeal are, of course, very welcome!

Finlay Gillies, a pupil at Ryedale School, has been selected for the England Under 15 Basketball Team and will be travelling to Paris on Thursday 18 April to win his first cap for his country playing in the Lion’s Cup.

Finlay will be accompanied on the six day trip by his proud parents, Stephen and Kate – we wish them all the best of luck on and off the court!
It was good to see a group of riders enjoying a hearty breakfast in the Abbey Stores tea room after a long but enjoyable ride around the dale this morning, 7 April 2019.

Craig and Helen hosted a fund raising cheese and wine party at the Abbey Stores on Friday evening in aid of Hospices UK. Enjoyable wines and cheeses from around the world and a very tempting raffle helped raise the magnificent total of £810.50.

Helen and Nicola have set themselves a target of £4500 and are planning a number of other fund raising events in the next twelvemonth, including an arduous Arctic challenge in January 2020 when they will travel to northern Finland to take part in snowshoe treks, cross-country skiing and dog sledding, all in expected minus 30c temperatures!
For further details call Craig and Helen on 01751 417475.
As throughout the nation, people of Rosedale gathered at our war memorial on Sunday 11 November to lay wreaths and remember those from the dale who gave their lives in the Great War and in subsequent conflicts.

Before the wreath laying, a Book of Remembrance, prepared by the Rosedale History Society to commemorate those men who gave their lives and also those who served and returned, was presented to the church for permanent display.

We Will Remember Them
The excellent Supermobile Library will be visiting Rosedale 0n (all days Mondays from 5.00pm to 7.00pm) 13 August , 10 and 24 September , 8 and 22 October, 5 and 19 November and 3 and 17 December .

Not only is there a wide selection of books, fiction, factual and reference but also good wi-fi reception and we all know how important that is here!
If you haven’t tried it before, look in this coming 13 August evening and see for yourselves what a good facility this is. Remember too, that if we don’t use it we’ll lose it.
