Father Christmas in Rosedale – 1 December 2021

Posted on . No Comments

Father Christmas is, of course, used to cold weather where he lives at the North Pole, but Rosedale did its best to make him feel at home on a breezy, sleety night with lots of young boys and girls giving him a warm welcome!

The Wonder of Christmas!

Thanks again to Father Christmas and to his elves from the Ryedale Lions for coming to Rosedale and for giving such a great start to the festive season.

RHS Coffee Morning

On the following day, Sunday 5th, between 2.00-4.00pm., we will be having our first Tea and Chat meeting back in the Updale Reading Room in almost two years.  We look forward to seeing some familiar faces and also welcome new ones to our very informal get-togethers.  Could those who would like to come along please bring a mask and respect social distancing.  Refreshments will be available.

Please note, future meetings are going to be quarterly, not monthly.  Our meetings for 2022 will be held on the first Sunday in March, June, September and December.

ROSEDALE CHRISTMAS AUCTION – 27 NOVEMBER 2021

Posted on . No Comments

In defiance of Storm ARWEN the Christmas auction went ahead in The Coach House Inn on Saturday and even with a reduced attendance over previous years and thanks to the generosity of those who donated items for the auction and those who bid for them, over £2000 was raised for the Reading Room fund.

Thanks also to Sue Foster and Lorraine Dale for organising the event and, as always, to Dave Oakey and the team at the Coach House for hosting it so efficiently.

A Remembrance Service was held in St Mary and St Lawrence Church on Sunday 14 November at 10.15 am, led by Rev Christine Haddon-Reece, followed by an Act of Remembrance at the War memorial at 10.55 am.

Around 40 locals and visitors attended – an excellent turnout and thanks to all who came to remember and pay their respects on a lovely sunny morning in Rosedale.

CHURCH APPEAL CONCERT – 29 OCTOBER 2021

The Moorland Voices choir, directed by Clare Haynes, gave an excellent concert in St Mary and St Lawrence Church in Rosedale Abbey on Friday night. An appreciative audience was entertained with a wide programme of folk, gospel and jazz numbers, both choral and instrumental, which raised £700 pounds for the church appeal fund from ticket sales, donations and the auction of a watercolour picture of Rosedale.

Moorland Voices on song!

Our thanks go again to Clare Haynes and the choir and to the volunteers who set up the event and provided the delicious snacks and wines which contributed to a most enjoyable evening.
