WINE AND CHEESE NIGHT- 25 OCTOBER 2024

ROSEDALE SHOW ’24

The Rosedale Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Show was held on the Milburn Field in Rosedale Abbey on Saturday 17 August. The show was blessed with excellent weather and dry ground this year which made for a grand day out for the large number of visitors ( currently thought to be around 4000) who enjoyed the many attractions on offer in the new show rings layout and exhibition areas, along with a wide variety of trades stands. A short selection of photos are below to give a flavour of the day:

The show field filling up rapidly in mid-morning
At The Trot! one of the pony classes being judged.
The first Prize Winner of the Day
Reminiscence! The vintage tractor display
Dog Show judging in action
The Railroad Hobos C&W band in full flow
Whoa! Stopping a one ton heavy horse in front of the judge.
Competitor briefing at the gun dog scurry
Pimped-up Pony – The fancy dress class.

As always, the show would never happen without the stirling efforts of the all-volunteer committee and the many other helpers giving up their time to run the entrance gates, control the traffic and parking and act as stewards at all the classes and events within the very full show programme.

Planning for the 2025 show is already under way to build on the resounding success of the 2024 show and should anyone wish to help out next year please keep an eye out on social media and on www.rosedaleshow.com, or contact the Secretary on rosedaleshowsecretary@gmail.com

See you all in ’25!

SHOWTIME VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The main elements of the show field are now set up, but volunteers are still need on Thursday and Friday to help complete the interior ‘fixtures and fittings’. If you can spare a couple of hours please come to the Milburn Field at 1.0pm (that’s 1300 hours) on both days if possible and someone with a Rosedale Show hi-vis vest will direct you where to go.

ROSEDALE OWLS TALK – 6 MARCH 2024

Over seventy people attended a very interesting talk on Rosedale’s barn owls, held in St Mary and St Lawrence Church on Wednesday 6 March. The event was in aid of the Save Rosedale Church Appeal and raised the magnificent sum of £978 from donations and an auction of a print of owlets on an owl box.

The audience enjoying a fascinating talk on Rosedale’s owls.

Heartfelt thanks to the volunteers who set up and hosted this very successful evening.

BROWNIE’S 80th BIRTHDAY!

Coincidently, around 80 people from the village and dale gathered in the Coach House In on Friday 19 January 2024 to celebrate Ian ‘Brownie’ Brown’s 80th birthday. It was a well kept surprise and Brownie took a few minutes to recover after his arrival!
