ROSEDALE CHRISTMAS AUCTION – 27 NOVEMBER 2021

Posted on . No Comments

In defiance of Storm ARWEN the Christmas auction went ahead in The Coach House Inn on Saturday and even with a reduced attendance over previous years and thanks to the generosity of those who donated items for the auction and those who bid for them, over £2000 was raised for the Reading Room fund.

Thanks also to Sue Foster and Lorraine Dale for organising the event and, as always, to Dave Oakey and the team at the Coach House for hosting it so efficiently.

CHURCH APPEAL CONCERT – 29 OCTOBER 2021

The Moorland Voices choir, directed by Clare Haynes, gave an excellent concert in St Mary and St Lawrence Church in Rosedale Abbey on Friday night. An appreciative audience was entertained with a wide programme of folk, gospel and jazz numbers, both choral and instrumental, which raised £700 pounds for the church appeal fund from ticket sales, donations and the auction of a watercolour picture of Rosedale.

Moorland Voices on song!

Our thanks go again to Clare Haynes and the choir and to the volunteers who set up the event and provided the delicious snacks and wines which contributed to a most enjoyable evening.

Carols On The Green 2020

The Christmas Tree 2020 – Up She Goes!

Sadly, there will be no ‘Carols on The Green’ by the Christmas Tree this year. We send all donations raised to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and this year would ask that you continue to support this vital emergency service by making contributions either in local collecting boxes or online or by cheque – details of how to donate are at https://www.yorkshireairambulance.org.uk/support-us/donate/

All Lit Up

We hope to see you all next year, to enjoy hot mulled cider and mince pies while singing along to our favourite carols around the village Christmas Tree. In the meantime stay safe and well and have a great Christmas.

Father Christmas in Rosedale – Update!

Like the rest of us, Father Christmas has been working from home for the last few weeks – however, he and his Lion elves will be out and about before Christmas.

They had planned to visit Rosedale Abbey on Wednesday 9 December, but he has had to change his plans and will now call in to the village on Thursday 17 December at around 4.00pm.

Santa’s 2019 Visit.

Santa and his sleigh will arrive by the school gates opposite Abbey Stores and he looks forward to seeing as many children from the dale that afternoon – see you then!

Signs of Normality

Cricket returned to Rosedale today, Saturday 25 July, when friends of Dave Oakey, landlord of the Coach House Inn, staged a socially distanced cricket match as part of their weekend’s entertainment in the village.

The First Pint!

Cheers to Denty!

Having drunk the last pints in the Coach House Inn, Rosedale Abbey, at lockdown in March, Dave Oakey and friends celebrated with the first pints on re-opening the pub in Saturday 4 July. The toast was to another regular, John Dent of blessed memory.

The Coach House is now officially open for business with table service only for food and drinks. Customers are asked to be patient and show understanding with the temporary limitations required by law.
