Well done, Maggie! Another mention in the Sunday Times, this time on 14 December:

ROSEDALE CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL 12 TO 14 DECEMBER 2025

All the hard work in preparation is now over and the Christmas Tree Festival in St Mary and St Lawrence Church in Rosedale Abbey is now open for visitors with 31 decorated trees on display:

The magnificent display of Christmas trees in the nave, with lots more to see in the foyer.
Relax, job done and now waiting for the visitors!
Visitors discussing their choices of the most interesting trees – the dog has made its mind up already!
Saturday afternoon and it’s getting busy, with the sales tables doing good business as well
Sam Dring, the organizer of the Festival, thanking all those involved in setting it up and helping out throughout, and also for all who visited ( over 500) and donated to the Church Appeal – figures to follow
Getting ready for carols and the formal end of the Festival

Light refreshments are available in the church throughout the festival and there are some sales tables where the Rosedale Calendar and other seasonal gifts may be bought – just ask one of the helpers.

The Festival will run through until Sunday 14 December and will end with carols with mulled cider and mince pies at 5.30 pm – entry is free and donations to the Church Appeal would be very welcome, so bring the family along, get inspiration for your own tree decorations and pick up some presents at the same time!

AFTERNOTE: Over 500 visitors were recorded for the three days of the festival and £2,100 was raised for the church appeal – an outstanding result and a tribute to all the hard work and generosity of the volunteers and visitors.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – 8 TO 10 DECEMBER

From Rosedale Abbey to the Hartoft junction – use Heygate and Hancow Road during the closed periods.

A NIGHT OF COLLECTIVE MADNESS!

…. and fantastic generosity, as the Rosedale annual charity auction took place last night in the Coach Inn, where around 90 intrepid locals and visitors braved torrential rain and gusty winds to attend the ever popular sale of donated goods to raise money for local charities.

A selection of the auction lots on display – lots more were on sale including some too big to be brought inside!
The first lot, the traditional jar of pickled onions, and Dave Seller and the assistants are looking nervous
The team are warming up and getting into the swing of it, with the lots are starting to go well
At last the pace picks up further and the sale items are selling at some very odd prices, but it’s all more money for good causes.

The final total raised was £3,322, a magnificent effort all round and one of which the whole community can feel very proud.

As always, heartfelt thanks to Dave Oakey and the team at the Coach House and to Dave Seller and the volunteer helpers who set up and ran the auction so efficiently, and, of course, to all who donated auction items so generously.
