CHURCH SERVICES FOR OCTOBER 2025

Dear friends,

Forthcoming Harvest Festivals are:

Rosedale         Wednesday 22nd, 6.30 pm

Cropton           Thursday 23rd, 6.00 pm

As ever, everyone is welcome.

Tuesday October 21st, 3.30 pm, at Lastingham: Choral Evensong with Lichfield Cathedral Choir

Sunday October 26th, 4.00 pm, at Lastingham:  Sung Evensong. Preacher, His Grace the Archbishop of York, the Most Revd Stephen Cottrell .

Then refreshments in the Village Hall, £10 per head in aid of Lastingham Friends, followed by
6.00 pm in church, the Lastingham Lecture for 2025, delivered by the Archbishop. Entry £10.

If you have had a ticket for refreshments, that ticket will admit you to the lecture as well. Otherwise, £10 on the door.

Sunday’s services are

9.15 am Holy Communion at Hutton (Prayer Book) (Revd Christine)

10.45 am Holy Communion at Lastingham (Revd Christine)

ROSEDALE ROAD CLOSURE – 16 & 17 OCTOBER 2025

As shown in the road side notices, the Cropton Road will be closed for BT telecom works from near Yatts Farm to Rose Cottage on 16 and 17 October. Diversions will be up Heygate, along Hancow and down to the Blacksmiths. Any queries ring the number shown below:

ROSEDALE CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL MEETING – 24 SEPTEMBER 2025

The first planning meeting for the Rosedale Christmas Tree Festival 2025 will be held in Abbey Stores on Wednesday 24 September at 7.00pm. All who are interested in helping and/or exhibiting are most welcome. Enquiries to Sam Dring on 01751 417237.

JUST ANOTHER DAY IN ROSEDALE – BANDOMONIUM, 5 SEPTEMBER 2025

As part of the Bandomonium Brass Band Festival, a number of bands from the county, hosted by the Kirkbymoorside Brass Band, toured local pubs in the area on Saturday 5 September, adding greatly to the pleasure of the customers at the Coach House Inn in Rosedale Abbey.

ROSEDALE COMMUNITY BUS SERVICE

A reminder that there is a community bus service on Mondays (except Bank Holidays) from Rosedale to Pickering. In outline, the bus picks-up passengers at Abbey Stores at around 10.25am then at Hill Cottages at 10.30am before arriving in Pickering at 11.05am. The return pick-up is at Pickering Library at 2.05pm, arriving in Rosedale Abbey at around 2.45pm.

ROSEDALE HISTORY ARCHIVE TEA AND CHAT – SUNDAY 7 SEPTEMBER 2025

The quarterly meeting of the Rosedale History Archive will be held in the Updale Reading Room/Village Hall on Sunday 7 September from 2.00 to 4.00pm. There will be the usual extensive range of historical and archive material available long with excellent tea and cakes, so come along if you want to research family background or the social and industrial history of the dale. Entrance is free but donations in aid of the running of the archive would be welcomed.
