Rosedale’s 2019 Calendar

Fourteen beautiful images in, around and about Rosedale

The very popular Rosedale calendar is available again. The 2019 calendar is on sale now in Abbey Stores, the Coach House Inn, Gillies Jones Glass Studio, Graze on The Green and the Caravan Club shop for £10 per copy with envelope. The calendar will also be on sale in the Rosedale History Society tent (Row F 4) and in the church tea tent at Rosedale Show this coming Saturday.

This year there are five local people who have contributed photographs, so you can try and guess who’s is which image or images. And every pound raised goes towards the restoration of St Mary and St Lawrence Church.

These calendars are finished to a very high standard and are practical momentos of a year in the life of our dale and ideal for giving as gifts and Christmas presents. Last year we had to do a reprint as they proved to be so popular, so buy yours as soon a possible!

Rosedale Walking and Heritage Festival – 23 to 24 June 2018

The first of the combined Rosedale walking and heritage festival went well, with good weather on both days for the walkers and lots of visitors to the Rosedale History Society and Land of Iron heritage information stands. The combined format was a great success, with a lot of very positive feedback from walkers and visitors, such that the final number for this year’s event are around 121 walkers or 50% more than last year, a great tribute to the tireless efforts of Kate Jones and Ian Thompson in organising and promoting the event, to all those who volunteered their time and expertise as walk leaders and to the Rosedale History Society and the Land Of Iron project for their fascinating stands. Watch out for details of the 2019 festival!

Stalls On The Green – Monday 28 May 2018

SAVE ROSEDALE CHURCH

Selling like Hot Cakes on a very hot day!                                          Photo by Lorraine Dale

The stalls on the green on the Whit Bank Holiday Monday are an old village tradition in Rosedale – this year they ranged from cakes, bric-a-brac, tombola and even worm juice!

Very many thanks to all who helped throughout the day and to those who donated items for sale. The result was the magnificent sum of £728.00 being raised towards the church roof repair appeal.

Another Bad Move

Parts of a second series of the comedy soap opera ‘Bad Move’ are being filmed in the village on Wednesday 16 May. Principally, the action will concern a village parade, hence the straw sheaves on the school railings, the bunting and other items on the village green. The location managers ask that locals do not stand around and watch the proceedings and to avoid parking in the indicated areas.
