Save Rosedale Abbey Church Appeal – 2018 Calendar

As part of the appeal to raise funds to save St Mary and St Lawrence Church in Rosedale Abbey, a 2018 calendar has been produced which will be on sale at Rosedale Show on 19 August in the Rosedale History Society tent on Row F and also in the Church Tea Tent by the entrance to the main ring, for £10 a copy with envelope.

A high quality, full colour calendar showing scenes of Rosedale throughout the year.

The calendar is a lovely reminder of Rosedale and will make an ideal Christmas present, so please make an effort to buy at least one to help us raise the funds for the urgent  repairs needed to the church.

The calendar will also be on sale at the church repair appeal coffee morning at the Coach House Inn on Saturday 2 September  between 10.00 and 12.00 am – please make a note of the time and date for your diaries.

Farewell to Nicola – 19 July 2017

In a tearful but happy occasion, the children, parents and friends of Rosedale Community Primary School said farewell to their much loved head teacher, Nicola Johnson. Nicola first came to Rosedale School in January 1991, taking over as head teacher from Diane Hughes. Then the school had 29 pupils. Now it has 22 in total with the number rising again and the fact that the school has survived at all is very largely down to the efforts of Nicola, as the chairman of the governors, Anthony Davies observed in his address.

Presenting Nicola with a specially baked ‘portrait’ cake! The other one was  also specially baked by Darren and James at Graze on the Green.
A gift of a whale watching trip for Nicola and Simon’s forthcoming Scottish holiday
The Junior School singing The Farewell Song – much use of tissues ensued!

The Dale-Sanderson Wedding – 8 July 2107

Lyndsey Dale and Matthew Sanderson were married on a gloriously sunny Saturday 8 July in St Mary and St Laurence Church with Father Bill Godfrey officiating. The event had a farming theme with the groom’s party arriving in tractors and the groom, ushers and pages dressed very smartly in tweed and denim!

Village Defribillator

Village Defibrillator

Since July 2014 Rosedale Abbey has been in possession of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and cabinet.

An AED is a device that analyses a collapsed patient’s heart rhythm and determines whether or not the patients’ heart is in a shockable rhythm. The AED can then deliver an electric shock which may allow the heart to start beating normally again.

The AED has been needed twice recently and there has been some confusion as to how to gain access.

To access the AED you MUST call 999.

The Ambulance Response Desk will talk you through the best action to take to care for the patient. They may ask you to collect the Village AED. The Desk will give you the cabinet code enabling you to access the AED.

In calling 999 the despatch desk will also send an Ambulance as well as a Community First Responder.

If you are in the village Abbey Stores, The Coachouse Inn, Graze on the Green, The White Horse and The Milburn, all have the code. BUT you must call 999 so professional care via the Ambulance Service and the Community First Responders can be despatched.

After using the AED please return it to the cabinet and ensure it is locked. If you have had cause to use the AED please contact Linda on 417003 to replace any used equipment.

Rosedale Abbey Community First Responders

The Rosedale Abbey CFR’s have been active since September 2010 and have provided hundreds of hours of emergency cover for the area. We have in that time attended over 65 incidents with the numbers of calls attending significantly increasing every year.

If you are interested in possibly saving a life and joining the group please call Linda on 417003 to help provide more emergency cover for everyone.

TEL East Mines Update 10 as at 26 November 2016

Not much progress to report as the recent wet weather has prevented work on the site. Some restoration of the approaches to the kilns area is needed and the immediate area of the workings needs tidying up.tel-east-mines-update-26-nov-16-2 tel-east-mines-update-26-nov-16-3
