The deadline for appearance in the catalogue is 25th July. This is also the deadline for advertising. There are still a variety of classes waiting for a sponsor and if you were interested, please get in touch us! Plants, flowers and vegetables are feeling particularly lonely! Over seventy people attended a very interesting talk on Rosedale’s barn owls, held in St Mary and St Lawrence Church on Wednesday 6 March. The event was in aid of the Save Rosedale Church Appeal and raised the magnificent sum of £978 from donations and an auction of a print of owlets on an owl box.

Heartfelt thanks to the volunteers who set up and hosted this very successful evening.

A charity coffee morning, cake sale and raffle in aid of the Rosedale Community School will be held in the Coach House Inn on Saturday 2 March from 10.00 to 12.00am. Entrance is free and all are welcome to support our school.

The quarterly Tea and Chat of the Rosedale History Archive will be on Sunday 3 March from 2.00 to 4.00pm in the Updale Reading Room/Village Hall. The extensive historical archive will be accessible and also the usual excellent tea and cakes. Admission is free but a donations to the Archive would be welcomed.

There will be a Communion Service in St Mary and St Lawrence Church, Rosedale Abbey, on Sunday 21 January at 9.15am taken by Rev David Haddon-Reece, his first full Communion Service since his recent ordination:

Coincidently, around 80 people from the village and dale gathered in the Coach House In on Friday 19 January 2024 to celebrate Ian ‘Brownie’ Brown’s 80th birthday. It was a well kept surprise and Brownie took a few minutes to recover after his arrival!

Thanks to Dave Oakey and his team in the Coach House Inn for their splendid hosting of the event and to Jan Baker for her coordination of all the details.

Our local curate, David Haddon-Reece, was ordained by Paul, Bishop of Whitby, at St Mary’s Church, Lastingham on Sunday 7 December at 3.00pm. The church was packed as the congregation drawn from all five churches in the benefice witnessed the joyous culmination of a long spiritual journey for David.

All in the benefice and particularly those in Rosedale wish David all the very best for his ministry with us.
