The well loved Carols on The Green event in aid of The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is back and we look forward to seeing you all on Friday 23 December outside Abbey Stores for delicious mulled cider, mince pies and a hearty sing-song.
Remember to wrap up warm, bring a torch and, we would suggest, an umbrella!
Rosedale Abbey’s Christmas Tree was put up on the village green today, Sunday 4 December:
The next quarterly meeting of the RHS Tea and Chat will be in the Updale Reading Room/Village Hall on Sunday 4 December from 2.00 to 4.00pm. There will be the usual access to the extensive RHS archive and excellent tea and cakes and entry is free – hope to see you all there.
The annual Christmas Auction took place in a packed out Coach House Inn in Rosedale Abbey on Saturday night and raised the magnificent sum of £2,110 for the Rosedale Village Hall/Reading Room. The 2021 figure was £1,756 so well done to everyone involved.
Heartfelt thanks to all who donated items so generously, and to Lorraine and Trevor Dale, Sue Foster, Lorrie Westwood and Dave Seller for setting up and conducting the auction with such good humour. Also many thanks to Dave Oakey and his Coach House team for their efficiency and patience throughout the very busy evening.
We have had advanced notice from Santa’s PR staff in the Ryedale Lions that he will be visiting Rosedale Abbey again this year and landing in his sleigh near the school gates on Wednesday 14 December at around 4.30pm.
A Service of Remembrance will take place at 10.45 am on Sunday 13 November at the Rosedale War Memorial in the churchyard in Rosedale Abbey. The service will include prayers, the reading-out of names of Rosedale’s fallen, The Invocation, a minutes silence then the Kohima Epitaph followed by wreath laying and the National Anthem. All are most welcome.
The Wool Board truck turned up in Rosedale Abbey on Saturday 5 November 2022 to collect the dale’s wool clip for the year.
