One of the Ryedale elves has told me that Father Christmas is planning to visit Rosedale Abbey on this coming Monday, 2 December, and will be stopping outside the school gates at around 4.40pm.

Abbey Stores Tea Room
Helen and Craig are delighted to announce that the tea room in Abbey Stores is back open for business after an extensive re-decoration over the last week.

They would also like to thank all who helped to raise £406 at yesterday’s bingo night in aid of Hospice UK and also those who contributed in other events which have now brought in a total of over £5,500 for the charity – a magnificent effort all round.

As part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of Rosedale’s Women’s Institute, Dr Richard Smith, of Smith Watkins of Sheriff Hutton, gave an illustrated talk in the Updale Reading Room on Monday evening on the history of the ceremonial trumpet, how his firm makes them and how they are played at State ceremonial occasions.

Some forty members from Rosedale and neighbouring Women’s Institute branches thoroughly enjoyed Richard Smith’s fascinating and amusing presentation and the lively question and answer session that followed.
