Rosedale Abbey Church Fete – 15 August 2021

Fibre Broadband on Its Way!

You will have noticed a lot of BT Openreach operatives and vans in the village recently – well, the good news is that fibre optic cables have been laid from the exchange at Lastingham through to Rosedale Abbey, with work ongoing to extend coverage through the village and up to Thorgill.

Once the contractors have completed the fibre cable laying, it is expected that customers will be able to connect to the network by late July/early August to receive up to 100mps broadband service. More details are being sought and will be published as soon as known.

COVID-19 Jabs Update

Pickering Medical Practice is the local vaccine hub and Kirkbymoorside Surgery patients are being called forward to there as shown in the notice – be patient and your turn will come!

Rosedale Church Closure

  1. In view of the virulence of the pandemic and following Government advice, Rosedale PCC has voted to close the church for public worship for the time being. This includes opening the church for private prayer.
  2. Irrespective of how well we can assess and manage the risk in church, it seems entirely wrong to invite people to leave their homes to get to church when the Government’s advice is so strongly to Stay at Home.

Road Closure – Hutton Lane

Hutton Lane is due to be closed until February 12th to repair the land-slipped section between Hutton le Hole and Keldholme. The council’s alternative route from Hutton le Hole to Kirkbymoorside is via Lowna and Gillamoor and is signed.

Carols On The Green 2020

This year and in lieu of the usual carols on the green with mulled cider and mince pies held in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Charlotte Tomlin played a medley of Christmas tunes on a wintery Christmas Eve to a small but appreciative audience in the village.

A reminder that you can donate to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at the following link: https://www.yorkshireairambulance.org.uk/support-us/donate/ and support this vital asset to our remote community in these stressful times.

A very Happy Christmas to all our readers and best wishes for a peaceful and healthy New Year.
